Bariatric Services

Birth Place
The Birth Place offers an innovative care model called Family-Centered Maternity Care, which focuses on the priorities and needs of the mother, baby and family. It changes the traditional practice of separating the mothers and babies at birth, with families being cared for together by one nurse. For more information, call 318-681-4600.
Breast Center
Our Breast Center is the only Louisiana center north of I-10 certified for excellent breast care by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), administered by the American College of Surgeons. The Breast Center offers comprehensive breast health screening and diagnostic services in a spa-like setting. A nurse navigator may help arrange required medical follow-up after an abnormal mammogram. For more information, call 318-681-4100.
Bridge Palliative Care
The Bridge Palliative Care plan provides care management services in the home for patients who may be receiving active treatment and are not ready to receive hospice services.
Cancer Treatment Center
Located in the West Wing at Highland, the Cancer Treatment Center offers a comprehensive approach from diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care. Services include the most advanced, life-saving technologies, board-certified oncologists, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, oncology and PET/CT imaging services. Cardiac Rehab
Cardiac Rehab, located at CHRISTUS Healthplex in Shreveport, is an outpatient program designed to help patients with a cardiac diagnosis. As a Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehab (ICR) program, the intensive cardiac rehab model provides a personalized exercise plan, monitoring of vital signs and labs, as well as cardiac risk factor modification to foster a healthier lifestyle—including cooking, grocery shopping, dining out and stress management.
Center for Rehabilitation
Inpatient rehabilitation is offered to patients with orthopedic injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputation, burns, severe arthritis, neurological disorders, neuromuscular disorders, and physical deconditioning caused by a medical illness. Grace Home
Grace Home is an inpatient hospice for patients needing complex end-of-life care. Nurses are always close and available. Grace Home suites at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center offer a calm, peaceful setting for the family and the patient.
Home Health
CHRISTUS HomeCare provides medical services in a patient’s home under the supervision of the patient’s own physician. A team of health care professionals offers adult and pediatric skilled nursing services, including HomMed monitoring, IV antibiotics, IV nutritional therapy, pain management, Synagis shots, phototherapy and wound care. Physical, occupational and speech therapy also are offered. Home health aides are available for personal care. For information, call 318-681-7200.
Hospice
Hospice care provides humane and compassionate care for patients with a terminal illness and provides support to a patient’s family. The health system also offers in-home hospice care. For more information, call 318-681-4605.

Outpatient Rehabilitation
CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System offers outpatient services at the Shreveport and Bossier locations for orthopedic, neurological and other disorders. Physical, occupational and speech therapists offer specialized programs, such as orthopedic therapy, stroke recovery, chronic pain management, sports rehabilitation, work readiness services and hand therapy. Specialty Therapy
Patients with incontinence and pelvic or tailbone pain may benefit from specialty physical therapy. Therapists also treat problems related to C-section and episiotomy, or muscle and joint pain related to pregnancy, lymphedema, breast or GYN cancers, and osteoporosis. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center
Patients with chronic non-healing wounds can receive advanced treatments, including hyperbaric medicine, at the CHRISTUS Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center. For information, call 318-681-7480.
Support Groups
Birth, Baby & Beyond Program
The Birth, Baby & Beyond Program features educational classes for expectant mothers and family. Classes include Infant CPR, Delivery Methods, Your Nurse Program, Happiest Baby on the Block, and other pregnancy and child care topics. For information, call 318-681-4600.
Breast Cancer
The Breast Cancer Support Group meets at 5:30 p.m. each month in Shreveport on the fourth Thursday and in Bossier on the second Thursday. (Ask about Zoom meeting options.) The group provides positive support to women being treated for, or who are survivors of, breast cancer. For more information, call 318-681-7280.
General Cancer Support Group
The General Cancer Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Classroom A & B on the 3rd floor of the Highland West Wing. This group is open to all cancer patients and caregivers. Call 318-681-6231 for more information.
CHRISTUS Health Diabetes Support Group
The CHRISTUS Health Diabetes Support Group meets quarterly to provide
positive support to anyone who is being treated for any form of diabetes.
We encourage one another, share information and provide resources.
Diabetes educators will facilitate. Pre-registration is required. For more
