ATM

An ATM is located near the staircase in the first floor atrium at Highland.

Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m

Monday through Friday:

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dinner: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.


Saturday and Sunday:

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Grab & Go Lunch: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.


Visitors are welcome to dine in the cafeteria. Call the Menu Line at 681-5400.


Calling Your Nurse

Push the red button on the handheld remote to call the nurses station. Call your nurse for help getting in or out of bed, raising or lowering your bed rails, getting out of a wheelchair or for any other assistance. Your nurse will respond as quickly as possible.


Chapel Services

The St. Joseph Chapel is located on Highland’s first floor. Catholic Mass is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.


CHRISTUS Cancer Treatment Center

Accredited for 33 continuous years by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, the Cancer Center provides comprehensive cancer care, including hematology, chemotherapy, medical oncology and radiation, as well as genetic counseling. The health system offers state-of-the-art radiation therapy with the Novalis Tx, oncology trials and a clinic location in Bossier City. Questions about cancer treatment options? Call 318-681-4138.


Fire Safety

We periodically conduct fire drills. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In an actual emergency, hospital staff will tell you what to do.


Free Wireless Internet Service

If you have a wireless PC or other device with a wireless network card that uses a standard internet browser, you may access our guest network. Choose CHRISTUS Guest and connect, then launch your web browser. Contact our Help Desk for help at 888-681-5123.


Gifts, Food and More

CHRISTUS Healthy Living Marketplace offers snacks, personal items, magazines and gifts as well as greeting cards, health items, gourmet food and coffee. The proceeds from the gift shop are donated back to the hospital through the Volunteer Guild and Auxiliary to contribute to mission-based needs of the health system. Cash and credit cards accepted.


Guest Meals

The cafeteria at Highland offers meals and gourmet coffee for hospital visitors. Carryout is available.

Housekeeping

Rooms are cleaned daily. For fresh linens, ask your nurse. Visitors may be asked to leave the room for a few minutes during cleaning to ensure it is cleaned properly. For housekeeping concerns, call 681-5595 or 681-5408.


Interpreters and TDD

Portable TDD machines and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) are available for the hearing impaired upon request. If you need a sign language or other language interpreter, ask your nurse and one will be provided to you at no cost.


Lost and Found

Lost and found items are kept in the Security office. Please dial 0 to report a lost or found item.


Mail, Flowers and Balloons

Mail is delivered to patients each morning. Special delivery mail is delivered when received. Any mail received after your discharge will be forwarded to the address on record or returned to sender. Flowers for patients are delivered by a volunteer as soon as possible after delivery, but cannot be delivered to Intensive Care units. Latex balloons are not allowed.


Parking

Free parking is available in several lots around the CHRISTUS campuses.


Patient Meals

A Food Service Associate can help you with meal selections from the menus approved by your doctor. If you were not in your room at meal time, you can ask your nurse to order a late tray.


Regular Meal Times:

Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Dinner: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.


Patient Safety and Staff ID

For the security of patients, all hospital staff wear special ID tags. Always ask to see identification of anyone who approaches you to take your loved one for tests or treatments. You can distinguish your care team by the color of their uniform:


  • Royal Blue or White: Nurses
  • Purple: Techs, Clerks, Sitters
  • Red: Telemetry Techs
  • Sky Blue: X-Ray and Ultrasound Techs
  • Navy Blue: Respiratory Therapy, EKG Tech, Cardiopulmonary Tech, Vascular Tech, Nurse Anesthetist, Cath Lab, Lab
  • Teal: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Perfusionist, Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation Tech
  • Brown: NICU Nurse Practitioner
  • Black: Lab


Personal Belongings and Valuables

You may bring pajamas, nightgown, slippers, bathrobe, toothbrush and toiletries. New mothers should bring clothing for the baby to wear home, as well as an infant car seat. Support persons should bring their own blankets and pillows from home to use while staying with the patient.


Please leave your valuables at home or with Security.


Risk Management and Quality

Risk management and quality management are important processes that hospitals use to ensure patient safety and improve the quality of care. Risk management involves identifying potential risks or hazards that could harm patients and taking steps to prevent them or minimize their impact. Quality focuses on assessing and improving the quality of care that patients receive. Please call ext. 6408 for more information.


Security

Security officers patrol the hospital grounds 24/7. If you need an escort to your car, call 681-5000 for this free service. A security guard will meet you. The Highland Campus main entrances are locked at 9:30 p.m., but the Emergency Room and West Wing entrances are open 24 hours daily.


Smoke-Free Environment

Smoking, e-cigarettes or other tobacco use is not allowed on any CHRISTUS property.


Spiritual Care

Our Spiritual Care team offers support, prayer, sacramental and worship ministry, spiritual education and crisis intervention. Chaplains round on all patient floors and are available upon request for outpatient areas. For Catholic patients, the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick are available. Holy Communion is also available each day in patient rooms. Other rituals and sacraments are available upon request.


To request a chaplain or for special requests, dial 681-5380 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours or for emergencies, dial 0 for the chaplain on call. You also may visit our website for our e-chaplain service.


Telephone

Callers can reach you by calling 318-681-5000 and asking for you by name. To call from your room:


  • Dial 9 + local number for free local calls.
  • Dial 9-1-318-555-1212 for directory help.
  • Dial 0 for long-distance calls and ask for an outside operator to reverse the charges or dial 9 + credit number to use a calling card.
  • Dial the four-number extension for hospital departments.
  • Dial 5 + the room number at Highland. Dial 848-84 + 2-digit room number at Bossier.


TV/Radio/Lights

Televisions are provided in each patient room. Please be considerate of others by keeping the TV volume down and turning off your lights and TV at bedtime. Click here to see Channel Listings. In some rooms, the light at the head of your bed can be turned off and on with the pull cord. In all rooms, the overhead light is operated by the light switch on the wall panel next to the bed.


Vending Machines

At Highland, vending machines are located on the first floor main hallway near the atrium seating area and on the second floor near Administration. At Bossier, vending machines are located inside the main lobby.


Wristband

A wristband is given to each patient at admission. It is important to wear this wristband at all times while you are in the hospital.


Your Room

Private rooms are available at CHRISTUS. Your room assignment is determined by your diagnosis, doctor’s orders and room availability.
